Sustainable Energy Resources

An estimated 1.5 billion tons of municipal solid waste, green waste, sewage sludge, plastics, auto fluff, agricultural, forestry and other waste products, including some 300 million used tires, are generated in the United States each year. 320 million tons are readily available for use in the production of liquid and electric energy.

And when organic waste materials are utilized as fuel, the technology supports the natural environmental cycle of CO2 generation and recovery.

The technology is a generation beyond cellulosic ethanol—which is generally defined as the production of ethanol from purpose-grown plant materials—a process many authorities believe is still five-to-seven years away.

In addition, America has some 267 billion tons of recoverable coal reserves, more than a 300-year supply. Currently, the combustion of coal to create electricity represents the nation’s greatest source of industrial pollution. Millions of dollars are being spent to develop combined cycle coal gasification projects, but these technologies must still combust the resulting syngas to generate electricity. The BRI Process uses waste heat, rather than combustion, to create the high temperature steam that drives electrical turbines.

It is the only technology that can blend any of the resources listed above as feedstocks—and the only technology that can simultaneously co-produce renewable liquid energy, green power and other products from organic wastes.

It could provide the nation’s farmers and dairy industries with productive alternatives to the open-field burning of agricultural residues and the disposal of animal wastes.

It could extend by up to 80% the useful lives of existing landfills, while at the same time, lowering the cost of waste transport and disposal for municipalities, and it can convert landfill gas (i.e., methane, a precursor of greenhouse gases 21 times more powerful than CO2) into ethanol. Ultimately, it will enable the world to reclaim approximately 80% of the materials in existing landfills (the organic fraction) for use in the production of energy.

It holds promise to eliminate the need for public agencies to spread sewage sludge on agricultural lands, usually in some other county or state than their own.

Clearly, America has enough domestic resources to produce all of its liquid energy needs from non-petroleum sources.

  2. Appreciate the work that went into laying this out so clearly, every section earns its place without filler, and a look at elitegoodszone confirmed the same care, definitely the kind of place that deserves a return visit when the topic comes up again later in the future or for any related question.

  13. Solid stuff, the kind of post that I will probably refer back to later this month when the topic comes up again, and a look at wavevendoremporium only confirmed I should bookmark the site as a whole rather than just this single page for future reference and use across coming weeks.

  16. Closed it feeling slightly more competent in the topic than I started, and a stop at velvetorchidmarket reinforced that competence boost, real learning is rare in casual online reading but it does happen sometimes and this site managed to make it happen for me today which is genuinely worth pausing to acknowledge.

  17. Felt like the writer was speaking directly to someone with my level of curiosity, neither talking down nor showing off, and a stop at amberpetalmarket kept that comfortable matching going, finding writing that meets you where you are rather than asking you to climb up or stoop down feels great every time it happens.

Thanks for keeping the writing direct without losing the warmth that makes content feel human, and a stop at rapidgoodszone carried both qualities forward, balancing professionalism and personality is a rare skill and the writers here have clearly figured out how to consistently land it across many posts which I notice.

  22. Refreshing to find writing that does not try to manipulate the reader into clicking onto the next page through cliffhangers and forced engagement, and a stop at futurecartarena continued in the same respectful way, this is what reader first design actually looks like in practice rather than just in marketing copy that sounds nice.

  25. Reading this on the train into work was a better use of the commute than my usual choices, and a stop at stonelightemporium extended that commute reading well, content that improves transit time rather than just filling it is content with practical benefit and this site has earned its place in my morning commute reading rotation.

  34. Bookmark earned and folder updated to track this site separately, and a look at rankvibe confirmed the folder upgrade was the right call, organising my reading list so that good sites do not get lost in a sea of casual bookmarks is something I do more carefully now and this site warranted its own spot.

  36. Considered as a whole this site has developed a coherent point of view that comes through in individual pieces, and a look at goldentrendcenter continued displaying that coherence, sites with a unified perspective rather than a grab bag of takes are sites with editorial maturity and this one has clearly developed that maturity through years of work.

  41.
